For today’s (Nov 11) New Music Friday, we have new releases from Nas, WizKid, Yung Bleu, GloRilla and Fivio Foriegn.

With a career spanning almost 30 years, Nas has managed to maintain relevance in this ever-evolving rap scene.

We were first introduced to his King Disease album series in 2020 with Grammy-award winning Hit-Boy at the helm of every track. The 13-track album showcased the evolution from a hungry Queensbridge rapper to veteran lyricist. With themes of cultural excellence and injustices, Kings Disease I found itself at the forefront of every ‘Album of the Year’ debate.

Today he released King’s Disease III, the third installment of the series. Over Hit-Boy produced beats, Nas relishes in his career’s longevity whilst telling stories of his developmental years. The absence of guest appearances is a subtle acknowledgment that the 46-year old has a lot to say.

Rising artist GloRilla, has had one heck of a year. The release of “F.N.F (Let’s Go)” catapulted the Memphis rapper into high charting territory on the Billboards. She made her debut performance and became a 2x nominee at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards. Today she released her debut EP, Anyway’s Life’s Great, a follow up to P Status. The album features Cardi B and Niki Pooh.

The year 2020 marks Wizkid’s coronation as an Afrobeats icon. Artists such as Burna Boy, Tems and Damien Markey helped to make Made in Lagos helped the singer amass a global audience. The Nigerian hitmaker is back with a new album, More Love, Less Ego. The 13-track album follows a similar sound and theme to his previous album. Wizkid‘s pillowy vocals sings about love over percussive beats. “Give me less of that/ Give me more of you/ Give me something/ I will never want to lose” (Frames).

Alabama rapper and singer Yung Bleu grew in popularity with the Drake remix of his 2020 single “You’re Mines Still”. This remix helped his breakthrough album “Moon Boy” achieve success in it’s first week with sales. His second studio album, “TANTRA” discusses Bleu’s journey as a rapper singer and producer. Some featuring artists include Kelly Rowland, Fivio Foreign, NIcki Minaj, Lucky Daye and French Montanta.

Though he’s still on a high from his latest album, B.I.B.L.E, Brooklyn’s own, Fivio Foriegn released a new single “1 on 3” featuring Rvssian. He shared a preview of the single on October 31st, “Be the first to have my new single “1 On 3” PRESAVE link in Bio rite now ❗️Juss Clicc the link, paste it den type in yah email & yu got it.
